Category Archives: Steam Cleaning
I’m kind of a lazy person, which means I hate doing chores around the house. Doing laundry, washing dishes, raking up the yard, emptying the garbage… all these things belong on my “hate-to-do” list. Having said that, there is one thing that tops all those chores and belongs to number one on my list, and that is cleaning bathroom tile and grout!
Why do I hate cleaning bathroom tile and grout? First of all, it’s not easy to get down on your knees in order to scrub the bathroom floor for hours. I end up all stiff and sore in the knees, the neck and the shoulders after cleaning. In addition, I end up getting blisters on my hands from too much scrubbing. And my expensive manicure? All ruined! I could rant and rave for hours when I think about my wasted manicure. But that’s not all. I hate touching the slimy, gooey, yucky black thingy that gets stuck within the grout lines. I can just imagine the billions of germs that propagate in there, and they seem to be taunting me and saying, “Come and try to get rid of us because you can’t” (sigh). So every time my mom yells at me to clean the bathroom, I groan, roll my eyes, and mutter to myself, “Oh no, not again!”
But then, I saw a commercial on TV which talked about steam cleaners that are supposedly great with cleaning tile and grout. The commercial even said steam cleaners remove dirt like magic. When I saw that commercial, I knew I had to try it. After much pleading with my mom and practically begging on my knees, she finally agreed to get a steam cleaner that was cheaper than the one advertised on TV.
Grout Steam Cleaners
To my biggest surprise, steam cleaners do work like magic. The first time I used it, I couldn’t believe how fast and easy it was to remove those grout stains that took hours for me to remove by hand. I was simply amazed especially because grout steam cleaners are so easy to use. I only had to put water inside the canister, heat it up, then aim the nozzle towards those ugly looking grout stains, and then just shoot at it with hot steam. The steam not only cleans, but also sanitizes whatever surface it gets in contact with. It is able to get into the super tiny pores and cracks within the grout that an ordinary scrubbing brush can’t do. Best thing of all, the steam dries up so quickly that I don’t even need to mop up the floor to dry it off. Isn’t that totally cool or what?
Other Options on How to Clean Grout
Is there another easier way to clean grout besides a steam cleaner? Yes there is another way to clean grout that is easier and faster without doing much back-breaking work. This method involves getting some paper towels and soaking them in vinegar. Then you put the paper towels onto your tile and grout and let it stay like that overnight. In the morning before you take your regular shower, simply remove the paper towels and rinse off the walls and floors. I have not tried this method, but people have told me that it works really great at removing grout stains without too much effort. I might have to try this out too, just to see if it works for me. And if it does, I would write another post about it
